This is How Babies Under My Wings Was Born…
Babies Under My Wings was founded in 2014 in Colorado, USA. Before that, it was just Under My Wings when I had a licensed childcare out of my home in Parker, CO for 6 years until I started my Doula journey.
I learned about Doulas at a continuing education session when I was working at a Goddard School, I just fell in love with the whole concept. That is when I started training as Labor, Postpartum, Lactation, Pregnancy Fitness, and more.
The more I learned, the more I wanted to keep learning. In 2017 I was introduced to Prenatal Psychology, and that has become my passion since. It makes perfect sense of life when we know a little more about our experience in the womb.
Now, Babies Under My Wings has expanded to offering support to families all over the world in Spanish and English, virtually and in-person. We offer group classes, private sessions, support groups, trainings, and consultations.

Lorena Teran
Founder - CAPPA Faculty, Certified Labor & Postpartum Doula, Infant Sleep Coach
Hello, my name is Lorena. I am the proud mother of three wonderful young adults. By the time I had my third child in 2004, I realized that I enjoyed spending time with little ones and sharing tools with parents.
My family moved from Panama in Central America to Colorado in 2006, and we now live in the mountains of Eagle County. We enjoy our family, life, and friends. My family has always been supportive of my decision to guide parents with their little ones.
I started working with children in 1989 for the Army’s Child Development Center in Panama.
In 2000, I started the children’s business, Kidszone.
A few years later, I worked at Little Blocks (A Child Learning Center), where I spent most of my time helping with the administration and general management of the business before moving to Colorado.
In 2008, I worked at a Goddard School, underwent training, and gained experience leading a pre-toddler classroom. That motivated me to open my licensed family childcare in 2009.
In addition to my other services, I immensely enjoyed working with babies and their parents to share and apply evidence-based tools that helped everybody's days go more smoothly.
As a US citizen born and raised in Panama, growing up with both cultures expanded my understanding of family needs. My tools help families thrive with their children and help them understand their baby's needs at different developmental stages.
Spanish is my first language. When I am with babies, I speak to them in Spanish and introduce basic sign language to expand their language skills. My main focus is letting babies express their feelings and practice processing them.
I model self-regulation, using tools like deep breathing and connection, helping children enjoy growing, feeling safe, loved, accepted, and understood, and giving them tools to keep wanting to explore and learn.
I help to understand how children develop and what research has shown to be the optimal way for guidance. For example, when children feel understood, instead of "the terrible twos," it can be fun turning it into "the terrific twos." You can enjoy how your child starts to figure things out even during "tantrums."
As a certified labor and postpartum doula, lactation counselor, and infant massage instructor, I bring a combination of knowledge and experience supporting parents with the transitions to parenthood. I offer classes that make prenatal connections that help navigate birth, understand postpartum recovery, boost breastfeeding support, provide tips and tricks for less crying and more sleep, early child development, and discipline with consciousness.
I help families create a strong structure in their baby's life with information that has been proven to be the ideal.
